Breast Feeding Policy

We are aware of the importance of breast milk for the health of your baby. Therefore, with our expert staff and equipment, we are working to provide you with all the support you need immediately after delivery in our hospital and after you are discharged from the hospital.

  • In compliance with the written policy on "the breastfeeding techniques and the importance of breast milk", all the healthcare staff is periodically trained.
  • The personnel hired in the relevant areas are provided with a training on this subject within the first 6 months.
  • Before and after the delivery, the pregnant women and the mothers are provided applied trainings on the benefits of breast milk and breast feeding, and ensuring the continuance of the breast milk.
  • Brochures about breastfeeding technique and breast milk are given to the mothers.
  • The mother and the baby stay together for 24 hours and the mother is encouraged to breastfeed each time the baby wants.
  • We are supporting and encouraging the mothers to start breastfeeding the newborn babies within the first half hour.
  • We are not giving any products to the babies like nipples or bottles which may prevent breastfeeding.
  • Unless it is medically required, we encourage to feed the baby only with breast milk during the first 6 months and to continue breastfeeding for two years with supplementary foods.
  • For healthy development of the newborn babies, they should be fed only with breast milk during the first 6 months. Therefore, as PRIVATE MEDLINE ADANA HOSPITAL we adopted a breastfeeding policy according to the "Ten Recommendations" approved by World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF and Turkish Republic Ministry of Health and the international law on the marketing of breast milk products, and based on the international accreditation standards.

In line with these purposes:

  • Our entire relevant healthcare staff is trained on "Breastfeeding Consultancy" and they are ready to help you at any time.
  • The mother and the baby sharing the same room is a method adopted as a scientific fact and it is practiced.
  • All the conditions required for the adaptation of the mother and the baby from the very first moment are provided.
  • Baby care practices are performed under the supervision of the mother and it is ensured that she becomes skillful.
